podcast: It's all Greek, all the time

I am a man of letters, and this year, it is Greek letters.
This week, I complain about my own inability to learn Greek. It's a problem.

Just like fraternities often abuse women, so too do they abuse the Greek alphabet. No one in Thessaloniki pronounces letters like those silly boys.

Learn more Greek at the Hellenic American Union.

The background music is another sample from the firewalkin' band. I like that music.

Stumbling upon your podcast is equally wonderful and painful. It's actually really difficult for me to write this comment at all... I was in Greece myself for three months as a live-in English tutor but came home because I couldn't convince my family just how much it doesn't matter that I didn't have a visa. I, too, struggled with the language, but picking up languages just happens to be my thing so I actually considered myself fairly competent by the time I was leaving. Unfortunately, I fell in love with Greece. No, can I say "fell in home"? I fit, I clicked, and coming back home was truly beyond-words-hard. I'm happy you're experiencing Greece. I'll stay up to date with your blogs, and most likely come back to comment. ~April
